Wonder, Romance and the
Human Imagination
The Wonderist — a lived philosophy of wonder, romance and the human imagination inspired by the ideas of the romantics, the great philosophers, the rebels, the outlaws and misfits.
The Wonderist seeks to bring into the light that elusive sense of meaning – seeking an antidote to disenchantment.
Spanning topics from folklore and mythology to science, philosophy, literature, art, the occult, supernatural, and the super-fantastical.
The Wonderist aims to reignite wonder — to reconnect the inner eye, and rescue the imagination from its relegation to the annals of childhood.
All around us, there is, as William Blake said, ‘a world in a grain of sand’. There are layers of meaning and story waiting to be rediscovered. There is world at our fingertips still full of magic, still teeming with beauty and high romance.
Me
I’m Sam—dad of two, poet, and writer. My interests? Literature, history, philosophy, magic, and nature. But what really drives me is a deep sense of wonder. I’m fascinated by how our imagination shapes our world, adding meaning and connection to our lives.
When I’m not writing for The Wonderist, you’ll find me hanging out with my kids, hitting the trails for a hike, or nose-deep in a good book. Join me in exploring the everyday magic that surrounds us and celebrating the power of imagination.
